I thought you would love to know what a showing our boys did today. And I'm don't mean the running, although they placed very well, 1st as a team in their class. As I moved from place to place to cheer them on along the track, I heard many comments about them from strangers like : " This is the best team here" from one coach! From someone else, "This team really has heart.". These comments were from two separate groups of folks.
Then as I stood in another spot to encourage them, a girl ran by who was moving slow, having some trouble with the race, and said to me "your boys are really a great team, they really encouraged me." This comment was a wonderful surprise. Towards the end "my hero", Mike (not his real name), ran by and he was second to last coming in. He was far behind every one else, and continuing to plug along despite being very tired. The last lap, and all the other boys have finished, and he's still going (which is why he is my hero), when who do I see but one of his great teammates, Rick (also not his real name), having finished the race about 6th I'm thinking, is catching up to him and finishes the entire last lap with him. Rick did this at the last meet, as well. Amazing!
I'm loving going to these meets and seeing this side of our boys. It's so hopeful for what they can do when leave us!
